Today's Tuesday Teacher is Mrs. Shelton! She teaches 6th Grade Individuals and Societies, focusing on Ancient World History, and is Historian Captain. She is a graduate of Arizona State University.  Mrs. Shelton has been a teacher for 24 years total and at Walker for five years.

Why did you become a teacher?

I wanted to make a difference in the world and thought the best place to begin was with children.

What was your favorite memory when you were in middle school?

Hanging out with my friends being weird and stupid.

What are your goals in teaching your students? What do you hope to achieve?

My goal for teaching my students is to incorporate fun, memorable lessons. When they recall these activities, I want them to smile. I want them to leave 6th grade LIKING history.

What is your fondest memory in your years of teaching at WMM?

My fondest memories are being silly with the kids and friendships with my peers.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Kayaking, hangin' at the beach, crafting of almost any kind, reading, and family time.

What are 2 or 3 fun facts about you that your students and co-workers might not know?

I'll try almost anything once, 80s hair bands are still my go-to music & office supplies make me happy.
