Today's Tuesday Teacher feature is Mrs. Brown! Mrs. Brown is a University of Kentucky graduate, and a Business Technology and Computer Science Official - CTE Teacher. She teaches 6th and 7th Graders.
Why did you become a teacher?
I became a teacher because my Video Production teacher in high school played such a role in my confidence. He made me see that I was good at something and helped me become better at being proud of myself. I wanted to offer that to other students who may not be great athletes or musicians but could find what they love in an alternative outlet. Mine was TV Production. Now, it could be computers or coding.
What was your favorite memory when you were in middle school?
Middle School was ROUGH for me. I don't know that I have a favorite memory. If there was one thing I could tell your 13-year-old self, it would be "Hang in there. It gets better."
"It's kinda fun to do the impossible." Mrs. Brown's favorite quote is by Walt Disney. " I love its optimism and how it speaks to the idea that you can do anything as long as you work hard and never give up."
- I worked as a production assistant for a company that made Jack Hanna's Animal Adventures and got to meet him a few times.
- I won a free trip to Paris for the Microsoft Educator Exchange conference in 2019.
- I met educators from all over the world and many Microsoft product team managers and the VP of Microsoft Education.
