Today's Tuesday Teacher Spotlight is on Mrs. Gonzalez!  Mrs. Gonzalez is a graduate of Saint Leo University and a 6th Grade Reading Teacher. This is her ninth year teaching, all of which have been at WMM!

Why did you become a teacher?

Kids are hilarious and fun! Middle school was not fun for me, and a reason I became a middle school teacher! I want to make it better for the next generation.

If there was one thing you could tell your 13-year-old self, what would it be?

It's ok to be weird. You'll find your tribe of weirdos soon, but until then, it's ok to be yourself. Also, wear deodorant.

What is your fondest memory in your years of teaching at WMM?

I love remembering the Skate World field trip when Ms. McGuinness taught me how to skate, but I ended up falling and kicking her skates out from under her! When we fell down, a bunch of kids tripped over us and fell too! We had a ten kid pile-up on the south side of the rink, haha!

Fun facts:

  • I was bit by a bat my first year at Walker (no superpowers yet, though).
  • I've YET to find a key lime pie recipe that is as good as my Great Grandmother's recipe.
